شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِلنَّاسِ
“Ramadan is the month in which the Qur’an was revealed — guidance for humanity.” (Q 2:185)

Du’a of the Day
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbu al-‘afwa fa‘fu ‘anni.
“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me.”
Reflection: Many believers hope that the 27th night may be Laylat al-Qadr. Whether it is tonight or another night of the last ten, the wise believer treats every one of these nights as a priceless opportunity.
Verse to reflect
“Laylat al-Qadr is better than a thousand months.” (97:3)
A single night may outweigh more than eighty years of ordinary worship.
Hadith to consider
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever stands in prayer on Laylat al-Qadr with faith and seeking reward will have his previous sins forgiven.” (Al-Bukhari & Muslim)
Forgiveness and renewal are offered to those who stand sincerely in these nights.
A message from as-Salaf
Ibn Rajab said: “The one who is deprived of the good of Laylat al-Qadr is truly deprived.”
Great opportunities do not return twice.
Question
Why did the Prophet ﷺ encourage Muslims to seek Laylat al-Qadr throughout the last ten nights instead of limiting it to one specific night?

Also known as the Islamic Centre of Newcastle (ICN) / Sultan Fatih Mosque, our masjid is located at the heart of Newcastle’s growing Muslim community.
The Mayfield Mosque serves worshippers from more than 45 diverse backgrounds. While Muslims currently constitute just 1.68% of Newcastle’s population, the city has become a vibrant hub for Islamic culture and inter-faith harmony across the Hunter region.
In 2007, the Islamic Centre of Newcastle (Mayfield Mosque) began operations from a former Salvation Army church, becoming the central place of worship for Muslims in Mayfield and beyond. This legacy continues to grow today.
Our community proudly reflects Australia’s inclusive spirit—holding fast to Islamic faith and values while embracing our role as engaged, unified Australian citizens. Under the leadership of our dedicated management team and Imam, the mosque has built strong bridges with other faith and civic organisations, enhancing community cohesion and cooperation.
